Art Johnston for 7B!

Hello, I’m Art Johnston, running for Minnesota House District 7B, Western Duluth.

Art and his district 7B (not all of it)

Duluth is our town and it is a wonderful place to live and work: we have beautiful green spaces; a multitude of trails; Lake Superior; mountains; amazing architecture; a history which is eminent in the development and in the current prosperity of our entire country; and we have great, hard working people.

We are connected to and prosper with the resources that we have in abundance: we have the largest inland port in the world; we provide resources like mining and logging; we have robust medical and education industries; we have many small and large businesses; and we have a tourist industry that shares in our beauty.

But things aren’t going good in paradise. This is an election to reclaim the soul of Duluth. We have never-before experienced unemployment levels; our city is empty; we are laying off thousands, from nurses to paper mill workers, and we have a City with plummeting revenues. Duluth has been represented for too many years by the DFL who has turned its back on business, labor, the economy, and its citizens. The DFL do not tolerate differences in thought, and kowtows to the Cities’ political correctness. The DFL has brought a dearth of opportunity to our great city, and seen young people move away because of few jobs, high taxes, and an economic unfriendly government.

I have been endorsed by the Republicans in Duluth. We have a common believe in free thought, free speech, rationality, adherence to our Constitutions, and to a free, vibrant economy. We work toward a government for the benefit of our citizens, and do not think that citizens’ only function is to pay taxes to benefit a ubiquitous, opaque government. Who are we? We are Christians, Jews, Muslims, conservatives, business owners, workers, professionals, Union brothers and sisters, stay-at-home Moms, longshoremen, waitress, timber workers, people of color, gays, hunters, fishermen, and environmentalist who are proud of Duluth’s resource intensive past, present, and future. We are nice. We argue a lot. We are diverse.

I have a proven history in Duluth of assuring that our government is by, for, and accountable to the people of Duluth, and will bring that representation to St. Paul.

It is time to put Duluth first: Duluth–For a Change!

The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.

I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin, but by the content of their character.
